This place is so unique and absolutely delicious! To be honest I didn't even know it existed before I heard about it from a friend.
Some tips to know about when coming here:
1) it's cash only!!
2) they don't take reservations (except for large parties/special occasions I believe) so if you're going on a weekend be prepared to wait for a table since it's a small place. We went on a weeknight though and had no problem getting a table!
3) most importantly, this place is BYOB! So bring all the beer/wine/anything you want!
As for the food... to die for!! We split a few empanadas as an appetizer so we could each try a few different flavors! As for your main meal, you have to get something with the steak in it!! That's definitely their best dish... I don't think I've ever tasted a skirt steak so tender before. One my friends had the steak dinner and another had the surf and turf which they said was incredible. I had the pepito sandwich with the steak and it was one of the best steak sandwiches I've ever had! Tender steak, grilled onions, lots of cheese and a toasty bun, hard to go wrong!
To top it all off, they have a yelp deal for a free oatmeal shake if you check in on the yelp app and of course that was just as delicious as their other food.
One of the most fun, unique restaurants I've been to in awhile! -

It's been a while since I was last at Irazú considering the last time I was here they didn't have permanent walls. But while it looks a little different, the food is still delicious.
I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm so it was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. We ordered the beef and chicken Casados and the beef El Tico.
The beef for both dinners was so perfectly seasoned. The chicken was good but it just wasn't as perfect as the beef. The plates looked full and we were definitely satisfied. The price is a little up there ($15 to $16 for dinner, not including steak surcharge if you opt for steak) but the meal was delicious.
My one major complaint is the space. The restaurant is so noisy. They did nothing to damper the sound. The chairs scrape terribly on the concrete. So between that and just the music and talking, it's so hard to hear other people at your table. And this was when it was a mostly empty restaurant. I can't imagine how bad the sound gets when it's more crowded.
Overall I enjoyed my meal and I definitely want to come back - only probably for takeout next time. -

A cozy yet refined neighborhood spot. I couldn't resist the 2000+ yelp reviews they have and stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night.
I like that their menu have pictures, they've got a decent selection of Costa Rican, think Mexican almost, style food. We ordered several empanadas, chicken soup, Chifrijo, and the surf and turf dinner.
Immediately after being seated, we were given chips and green salsa. Our food came out within 20 minutes. Everything came out at once, I'm not sure if I'm a fan of that. Th food were simple and clean, decent potion size also. I wasn't too impressed by the flavors but it was a decent meal overall. The chifrijo is definitely worth ordering, it can be a meal by itself really. The surf and turf came with juicy plump shrimps and nicely cooked skirt steak, served with rice and beans, plantain, and slaw. For $22, it was very good, definitely recommend ordering that also. The empanada, it's a pass for me, pass on the chicken soup also.
Overall, this is a good place to grab a casual bite of food. You definitely won't be disappointed, but you won't be blown away either. -

Last night I came in with my entire family and it was great to see that everybody loved their food. I was happy. They were very busy and it was way louder than the first time but I didn't care. Food is the real deal folks.
Can't say enough good things about this place. Enjoy. -

This place was suggested by a couple friends. A group of 6 of us came in ordered a variety of things. I ordered the steak sandwich and I remember other ordering the chifrijo and costa rican sandwich. While I didn't have any of that, the table LOVED the chifrijo. However, the steak sandwich for me and the costa rican sandwich for a friend did not impress us. Both of the meat in each sandwich was overcooked and hard to bite and chew. The meat also lacked flavor.
While the food wasn't anything special, the service was excellent. They made sure to check up on us often and refilled our waters especially since it was a warm day. Waiters were easy going when I had to have certain things taken out of my sandwich.
